Update
I'm a fuck up and karma is demanding payment in full right now. I guess all that I can do is keep trying to be the best person and best friend that I can be and ride this one out. This isn't a cry for help just a rant. Here's hoping that I use LJ to post something positive for a change soon - haha. | | Monday, March 16th, 2009 | | 12:42 am |
Wedding
I went to a wedding in Tennessee with Jenny this weekend and went to the Chattanooga Aquarium on the way back. I had a really great time and Jenny got some awesome pictures. I won't steal her thunder by posting any pictures from the aquarium so I'll just post three of my favorite pictures from the weekend. My Snoo Butt and I all dressed up! Jenny is drinking beer! We both decided to get a sampler of beers from a brewery and this was our favorite. The rest we didn't really touch, I don't think we like beer very much. By the time that dinner got there we were so hungry that we didn't get any pictures of it, but we did get pictures of our dessert. | | Sunday, March 8th, 2009 | | 5:59 pm |
My Weekend!
This weekend was a little busy with work, but I did get to spend Saturday with Jenny playing putt putt and trying out delicious Korean BBQ. Onto the pictures! ( More golf and awesome meat! ) | | Sunday, March 1st, 2009 | | 2:38 pm |

Cool Stuff
A friend of mine, Eric Parton won an Addy award for a portfolio design that he did where I was one of the models. Here's the piece (I'm in the top left). His work is really great, if you're interested in Graphic Design you should def. check it out. http://ericparton.com/ | | Monday, September 29th, 2008 | | 4:25 pm |
School!
I finished my first quarter of school and I got straight A's! Now, I know that it's an art school and it's not like I was taking Advanced Physics or something, but I'm still proud of that! So, I thought I'd post some of my work from last quarter. I didn't feel like doing a cut so yeah... Here is a project that I did for a competition. I didn't win, but I was still proud of my design. Here is another comp that I did, I'm proud of this one because the line work of the house was all done by hand and took forever. A book cover design Here's a poster design that was the final for my Typography class. And this isn't a school project, but it turned out well and it could be incorporated into a homework assignment in the future. As an artist I'm really scared of losing my inspiration ::knock on wood:: and I'm really trying to keep my grades up and I figured that if I shared my work to as many people as possible it would keep me talking about my designs. Also, if I can show my art to my friends then I can show it to anyone since my friends are some of the most talented people that I know. Next quarter starts October 6th. =) | | Thursday, August 7th, 2008 | | 12:18 am |

Busy Busy
It's been a while since I've updated with anything really about myself so this might be a little bit long to try and catch up. Well, I lost my job maybe 3 months ago now? A lot of you know that already and it was really stressing me out for a while there. For about a month I looked with no real leads of any kind and ended up doing some temp work out of desperation. I was pretty down for a little bit about that and almost moved to Baltimore for a fresh start. When I say almost, I had interviews lined up and it was a pretty near thing, but I decided that I love the people I'm friends with here and I have just as many prospects in Atlanta as much as anywhere else. Maybe about a month ago I finally landed a contract job doing Graphic Design work designing coupon ads and it kind of made me realize, along with having trouble finding work, that I should go back to school and get my BFA. So, in two weeks or so I'm going back to school at The Art Institute, which is kind of scary, but I think it'll be for the best in the long run. In the meantime I'll try to keep taking on contract or part time work to help me through school financially. So, long story short things have been super stressful for me and I've been crazy busy scrambling for work and setting up loans for school and schedules, etc. so I'm sorry if I've been distracted and moody or depressed. I realize I haven't talked to a lot of you in a while and some of my closest friends haven't hung out w/me regularly and that's totally my fault and I'm sorry. Anyway, I'm preparing for school with a new attitude than the first time that I went. Now I really want to work on getting my portfolio together and producing pieces that I can be proud of and learn as much as I can. | | Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008 | | 10:17 pm |
This is mostly to prove to Jenny that I still draw. This is called 'We Are One' and it's a concept sketch for some band art. I'm probably gonna pull this into Illustrator and Photoshop and work it up more using this sketch as the base. I'm undecided to the style, I'm thinking a heavy ink drawing in black and white, but I dunno. I'm limited by talent, so we'll see how the finished product is! | | Saturday, May 3rd, 2008 | | 11:54 pm |
So yeah...
Our guitar player got a write up in the Augusta Chronicle and, unknown to us, a reporter was at one of our latest shows with a camera recording us perform. SO - here's a link to us performing our song 'Well Wisher'- NOW... let me preface something here. This isn't our best performance of the song and the sound system was terrible and recorded with a shitty camera and a shitty mic. So yeah - don't judge my singing too harsh, but it's a pretty cool video of us doing our thing. http://chronicle.augusta.com/stories/050108/mus_196993.shtml | | Thursday, March 6th, 2008 | | 11:38 pm |
So, I came home from recording and my internet is randomly back up. What the fuck??? I'll take it, but there's no rhyme or reason to why. Strange. I think the song is turning out pretty cool. I'll post a rough cut or something once most of the vocals are laid down. I screamed all night and my drummer screamed for the track, which sounds AWESOME. Oh... and here's a video of one of our original songs we did as a warm-up before the show for that cover gig. | | 4:25 pm |
My drummer was nice enough to let me use his computer and internet connection to keep looking for jobs this afternoon. Bellsouth has no idea why the phone line is down in just my apartment and they should have a guy out Friday to fix it. While I'm at his house we're probably going to go ahead and lay down some vocal tracks to a song of mine that I've been working on. We have two back to back bar gigs in April that are going to require longer sets than we're used to playing, so we're trying to write as much as possible between now and that time in order to fill up at least an hour of music. So far we haven't looked ahead much to anything else besides gigs, with the exception of a video, but I'd love to be in studio before the end of the year for a really good demo. | | Monday, March 3rd, 2008 | | 9:44 am |
Yep
I played a gig in Augusta with Kris Roe from the Ataris yesterday which was pretty cool. I took the time to really warm up my vocals last night before the show and it made a HUGE difference. We have a song called Morpheliac where I sing a G# above middle C, which is hard for me, a difficult note to find in the song and I'm normally flat on it, but last night I fucking destroyed it. It was Nick (my bass player's) venue, so before the show we took the time to set up my vocal effects pedal, a screen and a projector and we showed little clip movies the entire time. ONE of which was Jenny's (Idleambition's). The movie is fucking amazing and fit really well with our song Well Wisher. We also played a cover of Radiohead's 2+2=5, which I thought we nailed. But the fan made video that we showed during it I think some people were GENUINELY offended by. Which kind of made me go - ? - I don't really understand why, but then again I guess in a conservative Christian town the kids would get pissy at this sort of thing. All was forgiven though because the singer for the band after us basically took 5 minutes out of his set to tell the audience that he thought our cover of Radiohead was great and that all bands know they shouldn't attempt it because it's just too hard, but we did it justice which is difficult. It felt great and it was appreciated after the silent 0_0 stares that the audience gave us after the song. I've been at a job every Monday for the past 4 years and it's Monday and I'm at home. WHAT THE FUCK THIS FEELS SO WEIRD!!! Checklist for today: Clean up the house some more, go get a paper and start highlighting, go to Kinko's and print my resume, quit being a slacker and find a fucking job. | | Friday, February 29th, 2008 | | 10:55 am |
I shouldn't judge... but I am.
So, this morning I go to grab a bite to eat at a bagel place while I'm out mailing some stuff to the IRS for my job. I walk into an Einsten bagel, place my order and start to wait in line when I kind of notice the girl in front of me hanging out. She was cute, looked young and well kept, even though it was 10 in the morning and she was wearing some sweats looking like she had just woken up. I was thinking about approaching her, which is something that I never do for some reason, when I look down and notice the shoes that she's wearing. Fucking. Crocs. UGH. Without even meaning to, I immediately made a judgment about her character, and in the 10 seconds following me seeing that she had on crocs I had this whole inner dialogue with myself that went something like this: Rational voice: "Who the fuck cares if she's wearing crocs? Doesn't mean anything about her character." Judging voice: "She's an uptight bitch that's probably made her way through college and her professional career with daddy's money and banging every rich male sucker that came along." Rational voice: "Yeah, well look at you fag. You're judging a girl by what SHOES she wears. What are we on Queer Eye?" In the time it took for this inner dialogue to go on, she gets to the counter first to pay for her bagel. As soon as she starts to pull out her wallet to pay for the bagel her cell phone goes off with this annoyingly loud pop song playing. She takes out her pink cell phone, answers it, cuts the guy at the counter off mid-sentence and steps out of line to gossip about something. My inner dialogue went something like this: Judging voice: "I was sooooo right." Rational voice: "Fuck you." | | Thursday, February 21st, 2008 | | 1:20 pm |
Why are Sea Salt and Vinegar chips so good??? On an impulse I went out and rented Roadhouse the other night. I forgot how fucking terrible and great that movie is.... here's proof. | | 1:11 pm |
The women at my work are so mean and bitchy. I came in from lunch and the HR lady was on the phone and I heard my name. So I passed by like.. ok - maybe that was a client and she was asking if I helped them. Then I passed by another ladies office and she was doing that whole *whisper whisper* thing into her phone, laughter down the hall from the other chick. Yyyeeaaahh... Why can't these women just come to work, do their fucking job and not gossip and get in my face? |
